At long last, our highly rated Wireless Attacks Course (Wi-Fu) (http://www.offensive-security.com/online-information-security-training/backtrack-wifu/) has been updated to version 3! This is a major revision of the course with a complete restructure and redesign of the course content with a far broader range of attack techniques.

The Wi-Fu course is comprised of course videos that are 3.5 hours in length along with an accompanying 380-page lab guide.

Beginning with a solid introduction to wireless networking theory, you will be plunged directly into attacking wireless networks of varying configurations.

Going far beyond cracking WEP enabled networks, this new version of Wi-Fu has much greater coverage of attacks against WPA networks using the Aircrack-ng suite, Pyrit, and more. Also added are various rogue access point attacks to help you take your wireless penetration testing beyond simply cracking network keys.

If you are looking to learn how to attack wireless networks, or want to take your skills beyond the basics, this new revision of Wi-Fu will be available with a start date of 22 Dec 2011 but you can sign up (http://www.offensive-security.com/preregistration.php) now and be among the first to have this great new version of Wi-Fu.

To see the many topics covered in the new course, we have the Wi-Fu Syllabus (http://www.offensive-security.com/documentation/wifu-syllabus.pdf) available for your perusal. We have also updated our recommended hardware (http://www.offensive-security.com/wifu-recommended-hardware/) for the new revision of the course and have added a new Wi-Fu Demo (http://www.offensive-security.com/videos/wifu-demo/offsec-wifu-demo.html) video!

The course fee for Wi-Fu is $450 USD and includes our highly-regarded hands-on certification exam leading to the coveted OSWP (http://www.offensive-security.com/information-security-certifications/) certification. Our former Wi-Fu students wishing to upgrade to this new version of the course can do so for the fee of $100 USD.

Very cool.  I was wondering when it would get updated.  I might consider upgrading my current OSWP whenever time allows.  I wish it covered 802.1X attacks as well though.

I'm looking forward to the upgrade. Just have to wait until I have money in January. (paying college tuition out of pocket sucks, but at least not more debt).

Hello moore,

Welcome to EthicalHacker.net. I would contact them through their Contact Form (http://www.offensive-security.com/contact/). Be sure to provide them with your OSID and inform them your looking to upgrade. I'm assuming they'll send you a link for upgrading which will allow you to purchase it for $100.00 USD.

For the ones who have already completed the course - how long did it take you approximately to go through the material and the exercises?

Hi aweSEC -

When I took v2 of the course, from the time I received the material to the time I finished it and took the certification examination, it was about 1 week. The v2 material contained a lab guide around 400 pages (there were some blank pages) and the video demonstrations were around 2 - 3 hours. I'll admit I'm guilty of not going through all of the exercises in the lab guide. Some of the material I skimmed. It starts out and introduces you to wifi and the material seemed bland but relevant to what you'd need to know.

The main material and exercises consist of analyzing pcap dumps and getting underneath the hood to see what's going on. You'll be analyzing with Wireshark. A lot of my time was spent going through the videos and practicing breaking into my own AP because that's what the exam was based around.

If I had to guess on the v3 material I would estimate a lab guide a little bit longer and the demonstration videos to be around 3 - 4 hours. You should be able to run through the course pretty quickly.  8)

802.1X or GTFO WEP and WPA/WPA2-PSK attacks are fine if you are attacking a home or small business network but lets face it the average client that can afford a black box pen test is running WPA enterprise and possibly a WIDS so they need to cover PEAP/EAP attacks and WIDS evasion/neutralization before i will pay for this course

I have also passed the oswp 3.0 exam and the study material was great.  I feel that I over studied because I knew close to all of the material in every section (so the exam felt really easy).  I would assume that one day they will add more content to this exam and I will retake it again.  Overall, it’s great knowing the offensive side because it’s GREAT taking that knowledge back to the defensive.
