Title: Security Certs Post by: Aximo on November 07, 2011, 02:06:25 AM HI Guys
Looking for advice what will be decent security cert to pursue for Penetration Testing and general security. The SANS(GAIC)Certs is the goal but i don't think i have the skill yet to pass those exams. CISSP is the ultimate goal. Will appreciate any advice i can get Title: Re: Security Certs Post by: 3xban on November 07, 2011, 08:20:00 AM Is your goal to become a good pen tester? If so, look at OSCP and maybe GPEN. CISSP will not make you a good pen tester, it will qualify you more for managing a sercurity infrastructure but not actually testing it.
Also what other background experience do you have? Title: Re: Security Certs Post by: Aximo on November 08, 2011, 03:07:24 AM Thanks for info
My background at the Moment is Network admin in mixed environment Windows and Linux Current Certs MCTP CCNA LPIC1 MCSE Penetration testing is the goal Title: Re: Security Certs Post by: 3xban on November 08, 2011, 08:31:44 AM I would look into GPEN and OSCP and to make the HR people happy, CEH. I personally would love to go for the OSCP. It sounds fun and challenging and it really lets you get your hands dirty.
