I am new to this site but have been visiting this website as guest for quite a while now

I will be giving my CEH exam tom, so was going through some review questions when i came across this 1 question that is confusing me..can any of the experts please give the correct answer..thanks

Question:
Bob is going to perform an active session hijack against Company. He has acquired the target that allows session oriented connections (Telnet) and performs sequence prediction on the target operating system. He manages to find an active session due to the high level of traffic on the network. So, what is Bob most likely to do next?

Answers:
 Take over the session
 Guess the sequence numbers

Confused between these 2 options.. in my opinion it would be Take over session as he has performed sequence prediction on the target operating system, but the review guide i have says it would be guess the sequence numbers

so can any1 help me with this query??

Its a poorly worded question. He will "Guess the sequence numbers" in order to "Take over the session."

The part of the question where they say he performs sequence prediction on the target OS means that he has done statistical analysis on sequence numbers on the host to make brute forcing the sequence number on an already established session more efficient. But in order to take over the session he must still brute force the sequence numbers of a session in progress.

In my opinion, the CEH exam has quite a lot of poorly worded questions. Some will say it is on purpose, but...

agree with you H1t M0nk3y about questions being poorly worded though i did manage to clear my exam with 94%

so yay I am a CEH now  :)

atm I am doing a diploma in Cyber Law
and I work as a Software Developer.

Now on basis of my CEH certification gonna try to find a job in the Security Domain, most likely in Application Security.

Can any of you recommend/guide me on what would be good next?

@dakaath: You could always do some of the Offensive Security courses if you're up for real pain and pentesting ;-) It should challenge you I guess  ;D

SANS offer couple of course for java and .net security..if u r into software development this can b ur pick..

hey thx guys..the OSCP and GSSP-NET looks good..will have to find out more info about them and availability of them in my country (India).

For OSCP, you simply download videos and a PDF. Then you connect to their lab via VPN. So as long as you have a relatively fast internet connection, you don't have to leave the confort of your house!  ;)
