Looks like 2009 will be a banner year for the Skillz H@cking Challenges. Ed's praises say it all. And off we go...

Dearest challenge fans,

We've got a special treat for you this time around. Josh Wright of InGuardians has created a simply fantastic challenge based on the beloved 1970's TV show, _The_Brady_Bunch_. I grew up watching the Brady's crazy antics again and again in re-runs, and love how Josh has interweaved the show's lore throughout his challenge. But, even if you aren't into the Bradys, there is so much gee-whiz technical awesomeness here, you really should work through this one, my friends. Josh's funk is multi-layered, and there is a bunch to be learned by all of us from this one. Don't skip it or be intimidated by it... just start working your way through it, carefully and methodically, and enjoy all of the beautiful twists and turns Josh has crafted. I honestly think this is one of our best challenges yet!

As usual, we'll have three prizes: one for the best technical answer, one for the most creative answer that is technically correct, and one random draw winner. You must submit something to qualify for the random draw, so send in even partially completed answers. Winners will receive signed copies of my book, Counter Hack Reloaded. All entries are due by March 9, 2009.

Have fun,
Don

Neat challenge :) Don't know if I caught everything, but it was a neat opportunity to play with some tools I haven't gotten to play with before.  As always, great job with the challenge.

Keep up the challenges!  It is fun to play around with these challenges.  Even the 'old' ones.  Thanks for having these!   :D
It is always something I pick up and review when I need to have to 'erase' my brain from other problems! ;-)
It's my substitute for soduko!

Yeah, this one is fun indeed.  I am still going through the last bits of it, but it's definitely a fun one.

Thanks for a good challenge.  This one seemed to have a little bit of everything in it....

Look forward to seeing the next one.

Due to lack of a complete 100% accurate answer & the desire to participate for some of the students from Josh's class this past week in Orlando at SANS 2009, we have decided to extend the deadline for one week.

If anyone has already submitted an answer and wants to modify it and re-submit, please feel free to do so.

Spread the word. This is a really well done challenge. In fact, Ed and several other past authors feel that it is one of the best we have ever done. With a little Wireshark fu, Josh's site (http://www.willhackforsushi.com/Home/Home.html) and Google, this one is very doable.

Due to lack of a complete 100% accurate answer & ...

Crap, what did I miss?

Cool.   Working on a revision....

Submissions are due today. Even if you feel like it is not complete, send it in anyway. Random draws still win.

It's also not too late to ask someone for help or work as a team to get that last bit of correctness.

Good luck and thanks to Josh,
Don

I looked it over and didn't see anything obvious that I missed...  Obviously out of my league.

Maybe you didn't miss anything, but didn't elaborate as much as they'd expected.  I'm thinking mine might have left some detail out, on the how-n-why, even though I'm pretty sure I nailed the answers...

I had no idea we could have worked as a team.  Oh well.   I hope my answers are better this time around.

But they said that none were 100% correct, so everyone was missing some piece.

Well, and maybe I did miss something (however when I submitted mine, it was AFTER they'd said nobody had 100%.)  Not saying I DID nail it, but I'm pretty certain I found all that needed to be found.  The rub, however, is that this is the first time I submitted for one of the challenges.  I hadn't realized how detailed the answers were for previous challenges, until I glanced through them, after I'd submitted my answers to this one.  That said, I'm looking forward to seeing how we all fared on this one.  Again, I KNOW I see and understand all from this challenge, but whether I gave my answers in enough detail to truly be scored as 100% is another matter.

Cheers, and Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Don't think so...  I've just patiently been biding my time... ;)
