Title: AkamaiGhost - Akamai Global Host - Geographically co-located Caching Server
Post by: Manu Zacharia (-M-) on August 17, 2008, 11:54:08 PM
Hey All,

During my regular information update on pen testing, I came across a web server AkamaiGhost. After some "googling" i could find or summarize it as follows(correct me if i am wrong):

  • Generally found on linux systems
  • Webserver name is is AkamaiGhost - also known as Akamai Global Host - which is designed to serve as a "geographically co-located caching server" for a website. So, what they do is, they mirror the site on a server at different ISP/POPs to deliver the content faster from a closer location.

Does anybody have any information on AkamaiGhost?
Any home page info?
Any Windows flavour?
Any download link?

Manu,

not sure about AkamaiGhost, I know Akamai are a web-host cluster for major sites in the UK (possibly international, I don't know). http://www.akamai.com/

From my limited encounters with Akamai I believe that AkamaiGhost is a proprietory HTTP(S) server, so getting access to the application may be difficult.
