Title: Kaminsky's DNS @ Black Hat
Post by: oneeyedcarmen on August 07, 2008, 07:45:01 AM
Dan's posted his slides (http://www.doxpara.com/DMK_BO2K8.ppt)

Was anyone at the presentation?  Was it as awe-inspiring as Dan was leading us to believe?

I was in a compliance meeting during his talk, and by the time I got back, I'd had over 150 Twitter messages from people on the floor.  Most just talked about how crowded it was.

I was able to get a seat by leaving the previous talk early and heading there. Dan was over caffeinated and giddy as hell. The room was extremely packed and energized. The main gist of the talk was that DNS is integrated into everything you do on the internet. He highlighted SSL issues specifically and explained really well how the flaw works in a variety of fashions.

I caught Fyodor's talk and didn't want to leave early. By the time I got down to Dan's room, the crowds were so nuts that I decided to skip it. In talking with Dan afterwards, he was very excited about the turnout and rightfully so. I congratulated him on the mammoth task of getting all of the parties together to patch simultaneously. He shared some of the hardships he encountered in trying to find that right person in each company that would listen. Some companies were much easier than others.

That was much cooler than fighting my way into the talk.

PS - Now that I'm back, I'll try to contribute a little more on my BH/Defcon experience.
