Title: Anyone read Beyond Fear by Schneier??
Post by: dalepearson on August 03, 2008, 02:50:27 AM
I didnt put this in book reviews, as not sure it would be appropriate.

I have just read the first chapter of this book, and I am not very impressed. Just wanted a guage from you guys as to how good or bad the book is, and if I should continue reading??

Thanks in advance.
Dale

I have it, but I haven't read it yet. I bought it and Secrets and Lies as part of a 'buy these books together' thing on Amazon, and am reading Secrets and Lies at the mo.

Having had a flick through the first chapter of Beyond Fear I would say that it's more of an intro to the book and seems to make a big deal of how we look at certain aspects of security, which I would guess will be expanded on through the book.

I would persevere with it. Whilst I don't always agree with what he says, Schneiers writing is generally very good and often gets you to think about security issues from a different perspective using examples that aren't neccessarily computer related.

Let us know what you think of the whole thing if you finish it.
