Title: Exotic Malware ?
Post by: shakuni on June 10, 2008, 12:36:44 AM
For my Malware Research I need samples of the following two kinds of Malware (description from Peter Szor's book). Please give me the names or samples of any of them,
Quote
Octopus
An octopus is a sophisticated kind of computer worm that exists as a set of programs on more than one computer on a network. For example, head and tail copies are installed on individual computers that communicate with each other to perform a function.
Quote
Rabbits
A rabbit is a special computer worm that exists as a single copy of itself at any point in time as it "jumps around" on networked hosts.
Please don't post anything related to "How to write such kind of malware" because it is very easy to implement these kind of malware. What I need to know is that whether they had been actually written or is it just a myth. And if they were written then post the names or samples of any such kind of malware.

Thanks.

I don't have any samples of these two types of malware but the Offensive Computing Website is a good place to find or request examples.  You may already know of this site but if not hopefully it will help you with your research.

Good Luck!
