Title: Don's Pen Test Summit Talk - DIY Ethical Hacking Career
Post by: don on May 27, 2008, 12:38:32 PM
Hey All,

I mentioned this off-hand in another thread, but I will be presenting at the SANS Pen Test Summit next Monday at 3:05 in Vegas. As one could guess from the recent interviews I have done as well as the career-minded focus of this site and ChicagoCon, my topic is:

DIY Ethical Hacking Career
Remodeling your career for little to no money down

It basically is a talk about getting into the ethical hacking / pen testing field, finding your place in it and ways to get your foot in the door (or keep it there) with an investment in mostly time. I'm sure I'll be posting the slide deck after the event.

The rest of the Summit Agenda can be found here:
http://www.sans.org/pentesting08_summit/agenda.php

Hope to see you there,
Don

Don,

sounds like the sort of presentation I'd enjoy, wish I could be there. Guess I'll have to make do with the slides....

Have fun.

i am looking forward to seeing the slides as well. this seems like a tough field to break into. everywhere i look they want experience, how am i supposed to get experience if no one gives me a shot. Thats ok, sooner or later i will get my chance. i start school again today, all my security classes, so im hoping to make some good connections there.

I was there and all I can say is that - it was a great talk and very well received by the community. I am sure everyone @ EH-Net will enjoy it too.
