Title: Creating an image of a server for pen testing…
Post by: Dissident85 on May 07, 2008, 06:38:54 PM
Hi all, I am trying to do some pentesting at work and am running into a few brick walls as you can see in my other thread Pentesting. What to do after port scan? (http://www.ethicalhacker.net/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,54/topic,2421.0/)

But what I am having trouble doing is trying to get a image of a server into vmware. The image file is a .v2i and I am trying to boot the machine in vmware a .vmdk file.

Dose anyone know of a way to convert the backup image file into a vmware virtual disk?

I have looked around on google and had no luck. Please help!

Does the VMware Converter (http://www.vmware.com/products/converter/) not support that? It would appear that it does...
