I have  BT2 final and just dl the EH-net 7zip file, like 3.4 gb
Do i need to install this in my hd?, should i be looking in the bt2 hd install files, then install the EH-net stuff i just dl'd?

its a virtual machine. so...

vmware --> open virtual machine --> select BT2 VM --> interact with it :-)

1. Download and install VMware player (2.02 just released).
2. DL EH-Net version of BT2 and unzip it.
3. Launch VMware Player and click the big "Open" icon.
4. Go to the location of the expanded EH-Net BT2 files, select the vmx file and click open.
5. The Virtual machine launches, and you can start to play right away. Nothing to install. That's the beauty of a prepackaged virtual machine (VM).

the player would not run the eh-net vmware, said that "Player was not sufficient to handle a 2GB+ vmw vhd", so i dl'd the workstation and the server. _.::--Plus I would like to give a hand in supporting the dist of the eh-net vmware--::._ i got 64.202.189.108 avail to me, but, im sure you have enough promo, but eh-net is !!killer!! so i just wanted  to offer any space or giving a hand writing if you needed it.
ps thx for the advice, i have been working with vpc, parallels, and msft derivitives, but im afool for not looking into vmware until now.

-oh yeah i had seen that quite some time ago, you gave some 3 day access to CBT Nuggets, will there be anything like that Ever again, or am i gonna have to save between formula, beans and rice, to buy the content?

 as you can see im dieing to become involved with eh-net, in some way or another :-[, sleep is now another notch lower on the list of priorities.

I'm a total noob when it comes to this stuff, so can someone just briefly explain what I'd need to do to use aircrack?

Do I have to make a boot cd out of something to go into linux to use aircrack, or can I just load it up with VMware and it will go into linux and that's it?

Any help is appreciated, sorry to be uber lame with this. I had to start learning somewhere/sometime  :P.

And anyone know of a torrent to the latest VMware player? And which version of it do I need, the one for windows or the one for linux?

Basic aircrack tutorials are all over the place, any search on google etc. should keep you busy for a while.

With regards to using VMWare for aircrack, I've never personally been able to get this to work as VMWare doesn't find all wireless drivers etc. so I'd recommend booting direct from the CD, but your mileage may vary.

Torrent for VMware? I've always just downloaded from VMWare's site with decent throughput. Or has the licensing/purchasing changed since my last VMWare install?

Forget the torrent part, I got it another way.

I just tried to load backtrack though and it said I didn't have enough memory. Are there certain specs I need to run it? I only have 256mb ram i think.

Would it work fine if I booted it from CD? How can I make a CD from the files in the eh-net version?

Minimim RAM required for VMware is 512MB. From experience I have just upgraded my machine from 1GB to 4GB for virtualisation.

Is there a specific reason why you need the EH-Net version over the standard BackTrack boot CD for live booting?

There is no EH-Net version with a LiveCD/DVD option.

Benefit of EH-Net VMware version is that Metasploit 3 is built into version 2 of BackTrack.

Benefit of going straight to BackTrack is that you can get a bootable version. If you want Metasploit 3, then you have to download BT v3 which is still officially beta.
