Title: ethicalhacker.net IRC channel?
Post by: jimbob on August 16, 2007, 05:18:53 PM
Hi,
Is it worth setting up an IRC channel for members of this site e.g. #ethicalhacker on freenode? I don't want a chat room to take away from the forums here, but it would be nice to get some more interaction with some of the other members and share ideas.

Jimbob

Interesting idea. Maybe try it for a few weeks and see if it takes off?

Yeah, I'd be up for that as well. I know ChrisG had posted about an IRC channel/server elsewhere as well, but I know I for one was banned right when I joined :P

I typically sit on irc.cyberarmy.net and I'm sure they'd have no problem with having a channel on their network either.

Yes, I too support this.

Chat4all ( http://chat4all.org/)allows you to register free IRC channel on their servers. I am running an IRC channel (irc://irc.chat4all.org/theadmins) for my site The Admins (www.theadmins.info) through chat4all.

I think it's the right time for the EH-Net IRC Channel.

now that you mention it, i never did get an answer back on how to get you unbanned or to stop unbanning you.

in the interim everyone cept for BIllV (not my choice  >:() can hang out in #LSO-Chat on irc.deepirc.org

Haha, well I've since disabled those scripts blocking CTCP stuff... just tried again and it appears to be working now :)

Well wait a minute. Am I not the sad one because I hang out with all of you too much?  Now you want more of my time? ???

Ohhhhhhh... OK.  ;)

Let me look into it, and we'll get something going. I'm always one to please the masses.

Actually, all kidding aside, great idea.

Don

Was there ever an IRC chatroom setup?

No. Not yet. I promise to have something soon. One of those low priority items, but if the people have spoken, so be it.

I'm such a slacker,

I can get in now, just had to wait for that ban to get removed :) There's usually not many people there so I don't stay too long

The most I've seen is a couple of dozen channels.  At any point in time about 5 or so have 20+ people.  The main channel seems to be 50+ most of the time.

Yeah, the main CA channel is where most discussion (if any) happens. The others are mostly brigade-related. There are a couple of other networks that are linked with CA as well.
