Title: Re: [Article]-InfoSec Career Hacking: Ch 2 - Social Engineering For Profit Post by: BillV on March 23, 2007, 09:58:19 PM I'm curious... has anyone bought/read any of this book (other than the sample chapter)? I noticed it a while ago and didn't bother picking it up. I looked it up online and some of the reviews (I think on Amazon) weren't that great. Anyone that's read it have any opinions?

Guess we're about in the same boat then... I have a feeling it's probably going to stay that way too ;) Title: Re: [Article]-InfoSec Career Hacking: Ch 2 - Social Engineering For Profit Post by: Chuck on April 21, 2007, 12:43:45 AM It is amazing as much time as people put into writing these books. You would think that they would spend a little bit of time on how the book looks. I understand that if the book is great it will get read, eventually, but waste time. If people would invest a little time in the cover of the book then they would be able to sell more books much easier. This book just looks boring and drab.

Title: Re: [Article]-InfoSec Career Hacking: Ch 2 - Social Engineering For Profit Post by: BillV on April 21, 2007, 08:43:03 PM I very rarely pay any attention to how the book looks... mostly because they're turned to the side at the store ;)
I do follow somewhat of a routine (unless looking for a specific book). I'll usually notice the title and then will check 1 or 2 things right away. First, the copyright date to determine if it's recent enough that the material will still be relevant. If that's good, then I check the TOC. So long as both meet my expectations I'll flip through some of it to get an idea of how the info is presented. If I like it, I buy it :)
